I'm usually a really big fan of the Golden Globes because they have categories for Comedy/Musical movies and they combine TV and movies into one wonderful night of fun! The nominations for the 2010 season were announced this morning and I have to say, I am very disappointed. I'll hold off on whining about the movie portion (I have many complaints. Alice in Wonderland? Really?) and focus on the good and the bad of the TV noms.
Best Drama: I don't have many complaints here. I love Mad Men and have watched a little bit of Dexter and really enjoyed it. Also, I've heard amazing things about Boardwalk Empire and would watch it if I had HBO. I plan on catching it when it comes out on Blu-Ray. One surprise though is The Walking Dead. There were only 6 episodes of the show this season and while I've heard good things, I don't think it's in the same league as the other nominations and it was only a half season. Come on HFPA.
Best Comedy: I'm pretty satisfied with this list (Modern Family will win) except for the Community snub. The first season of Community was snubbed at the Emmys this year and now the second season is not starting off the awards season well. I really don't understand why this show doesn't get the recognition it deserves. It is far and away the best of the NBC Thursday night comedies. It is smart and fresh and speaks to my generation in a fun, lighthearted way. I'm still rooting for you, Community, you'll kick butt at the Emmys! On another note, I'm kind of glad The Office was not nominated. I love The Office but this season has not be award worthy and I'm glad it didn't get a nomination just because it's popular (Glee).
Best Actress in a Drama: I'm so happy for Elizabeth Moss (Peggy of Mad Men)! She deserves every bit of acclaim for her wonderful work in season 4. I'm also happy she's in the lead actress category. You go girl!
Best Actor in a Comedy: Mathew Morrison (Mr. Schu Glee). Ugh. He hasn't even been a big part of this season! I feel like Chris Colfer was more the lead actor in Glee this season. Whatever. I think others are more deserving of this nomination.
Supporting actor/actress: Yay for Sofia Vergara and Eric Stonestreet (Modern Family) for getting noms! I wish every actor on MF show had been nominated because they all deserve it but I'm happy for the ones who were nominated and will be pulling for them to beat the Glee kids!
To check out a full list of the nominations go here. Make sure you check out the weirdness of the movie categories. There are some real shockers.
On a side note. I spent all day in my PJ's watching movies and Law and Order: SVU. I love Christmas Break!

Office Christmas
Tonight is The Office Christmas episode they've been hyping for a while.
I have high hopes for this episode due to little gems such as this but I'm weary of Holly's return, especially after the disaster ex-girlfriends episode earlier this year.
In other news:
Glee Christmas was actually really good! Probably because Kurt was only in it for one scene :)
I'm super PUMPED for claymation Community tonight!
Survivor is heating up with only two more episode left. I have no idea who will win!
Biggest Loser finale on Tuesday. Team Fredo!
There are boys from Huntsville on Sing Off and they are fabulous!

Insta-blog!
I'm starting a new segment called insta-blog where I'll post about a show right after watching it if something completely ridiculous happens during the show. Unfortunately, my internet was acting up last night but I wrote this post right after watching last night's Survivor and I'm just getting to post it now.
INSTA-BLOG: Survivor
So...my prediction for the winner/final three of this season's Survivor has been completely destroyed. After Brenda was kicked off two weeks ago I remained hopeful that Sash and Purple Kelly could hold their own and make it to the finale. But no, a shocking turn of events left we angry and glad I didn't bet any money on my final three.
Tonight's episode started out normal enough. The young girls were crying about the rain, Benry (yes, this is someone's name. yes, he is a boy) was being particularly annoying, Jane was a beast (she didn't do anything this week to prove this but I'm still blow away by her last display of strength and awesomeness). So when the contestants made their way to the reward challenge I enjoyed watching the teams try to carry 8 foot tall dummies through several obstacles. At the end of the challenge NaOnka announce she would be quitting Survivor. Then purple Kelly finally piped up and announce this would be her last day too.
What? Are you kidding me? Ugh! adlfkjewiofuiodufiouriu! These were the feelings I had after hearing this news. NaOnka's decision to quit the show was not that surprising and I was actually kind of happy about it. She is 45 kinds of crazy and I can't believe anyone would let her near their children (she is a P.E. teacher). She is one of the most selfish and wishy-washy people I've ever seen on reality TV, and that's saying a lot. To give you an example of her selfishness I'll tell you what happened RIGHT after she announced she was quitting. Her team won the reward challenge, which was watching a movie while eating junk food (pretty lame reward if you ask me. Also, the contestants didn't have blankets and were covering up with napkins and pillows during the movie). The winning team also had the option for one person to forgo the reward in exchange for a new tarp and more rice (the old tarp and food were destroyed last week in a camp fire) and NaOnka refused to sit out of the reward! Are you kidding me? You're going HOME later that day and you are going to sit by and watch another member of the winning team give up her spot. Unbelievable. Anyway, I'm glad NaOnka is out of the picture.
Now to purple Kelly. Home girl probably only has 10 min of airtime up until this episode and she quits out of the blue with only 8 people left in the competition. I am frustrated with how lame she ended up being after I thought she was just quite and well liked enough to become the sole survivor.
The most annoying part of this whole mess is that NaOnka and purple Kelly get to be a part of the jury. I guess the producers want to keep them because they add drama and also because they want to have a big enough jury for the final vote but it's frustrating. They should be sent home. It will be interesting to see what goes on at Ponderosa for the next 10 days. I'm pretty sure Marty and Brenda are going to give NaOnka a pretty hard time.
Anyway, I'm tired and frustrated and never making picks for anything ever again! I'll get back to the rest of my list soon. Happy last day of classes!
(I can't believe Dan is still in the game.)
