Thursdays have been my favorite day of the week for as long as I can remember. Now you may be asking yourself "Thursday? Really? What about Friday and Saturday? Do you like school/work you crazy lady?" Here are a few of the reasons why I love Thursday...
I love the feeling of the week coming to an end and the excitement that starts building for the weekend.
Wednesdays have historically been bad/busy days for me so once they are over I'm usually a happy camper
Thirsty Thursday- half price drinks at the ball park. You'd have to be crazy not to love that!
And finally, NBC Thursday night comedy (You knew I'd get to talking about TV eventually)
I grew up with parents who watched NBC comedies so I was exposed to hilarious and often times ridiculous sitcoms at a young age. I'm very impresses and excited by the current Thursday night lineup. Community, 30 Rock, The Office, and Outsourced (okay, so I haven't gotten into Outsourced but at least it's at the end of the lineup so I don't have to change the channel for 30 min while a stinker show is on. Parks and Recreation anyone?)
I particularly enjoy that the Halloween episode is always a big one for Community and The Office and last night did not disappoint. Community always does an excellent job with spoofing pop culture and the zombie outbreak episode last night followed Community's recipe for success (too cheesy?). I love episodes featuring Troy and Abed and I think Donald Glover is a genius and hope he has a long, successful career.
The Office has had a lot of highs and lows for me this season. I hate to say this, but I'm excited about Michael leaving the show. I say Michael because I think Steve Carell can do no wrong and the writers of The Office are letting him down by making Michael more and more annoying and less and less lovable. What does this have to do with the Halloween episode? The episode was great, minus Michael's story line. I always love the costumes the officemates come up with(Kevin as Michael Moore) and the contest to win a coupon book was classic Office. Also, the cold opening probably ranked among my top 5 favorites (Pam with a mustache, a cardboard computer screen, Dwight as Philis. Love it). Unfortunately, Michael's extreme selfishness was over the top, even for Michael and it really took me out of the episode. This is not the first time in this season that I have been frustrated with how stupid Michael is getting and I continually lose any ounce of sympathy I ever had for him.
Despite my little rant at the end, I enjoyed watching my comedies last night and come Monday I will be looking forward to another great Thursday! Happy Weekend and Happy Halloween!
